The King Road Brewery

A Family Built Brewery

Cider - Apple Orchard

It all began with a cider.

The King Road Brewing Co story began with Bev and Dave McKee experimenting with cider recipes in a cheap home-style setup on the family farm. We have fond memories recalling early batches of the brew, most of which were barely drinkable – of course, we drank them, anyway!

Over time, our experience grew, our recipes evolved, and our cider got better. We finally perfected the recipe to create our signature classic cider, which has become a staple at KRB.

But we didn’t stop there. We infused ginger with our signature recipe to create a sweet and spicy twist on our beloved classic. We also offer a range of craft beers brewed right here at KRB, including a ginger beer that tastes fantastic with ice and a slice of lime.

Come and visit us to try our distinctive ciders, or one of our fine handcrafted beers. They go brilliantly with the selection of food from our carefully prepared menu.

We invite you and your family to enjoy a drink and a meal with us. From our family to yours.

And from there we grew.

From those early days brewing in our shed on the family farm using a home-made bottle jack cider press, we have grown to a dedicated venue with a stand-alone brewery where we handcraft our cider and beer creations. Now we use state of the art equipment sourced internationally to ensure the most cutting-edge technology in the creation of our fine beverages.

In addition to our classic cider and ginger cider, we also offer a good range of craft beers and a wide variety of tasty meals for you and your family to choose from. Our guests love us for our great venue, child friendly facilities and value for money.

Take the time to bring your family out to see our family. While you’re here, make sure you try our tasty food and handcrafted ciders and beers. You won’t be disappointed.

Our fantastic brewers:

One of the brightest names in the brewing industry comes to KRB with a wealth of knowledge and experience in craft beers. Steve Wearing is an award winning, well-travelled brewer in the industry.
He has crafted beers for brewers including Homestead Brewery and Blasta Brewing Co.

Steve believes a good beer is all about the yeast and he takes it very seriously. Steve records detailed logs as he brews and manipulates each variable over many batches until he achieves the desired outcome. The result is beers that are brewed to perfection.

Our ciders are still made on site by our devoted team using our secret family recipe. Our apples are sourced from suppliers in the Perth hills or all the way down south in Manjimup. These days, we have moved on from the home-made press and now brew our ciders using state of the art equipment in our dedicated brewery.

Everything we brew at KRB has a handcrafted feel to it, with a truly world class flavour and texture. Come and try our brews to see for yourself.

Seasonal food and beer

KRB’s fully equipped restaurant and bar has a revolving summer/winter menu featuring classic pub meals and weekend specials. We also rotate our wines depending on the time of year.

Current Seasonals

Our ciders and most of our beer selection is consistent throughout the year.
However, we offer seasonal beers that change depending on the availability of ingredients.

KR Pilsner
4.5%

A traditional pilsner – light, clean, crisp and refreshing – but with a little twist. We turned to New Zealand for the hops, Nelson Savin hops are used late in the boil which give subtle fruity characteristics.

Special Brews

From time to time, we craft special brews for beer lovers to get excited about. Here’s our latest creations.

King Road Wet Hop Ale 5.0% ABV 375ml
KR Wet Hop Ale
5.0%

We visited our mates @prestonvalleyhops and picked out the best hops they had on offer. We were lucky enough to use these hops ‘wet’ meaning they were picked in the morning and in the kettle by early afternoon – they were never dried. The fresh and vibrant hop characters have really come through in the beer – a noticeably different flavour profile to your regular Pale Ale.

The atmosphere of a southwest brewery, closer to home.

Our venue captures the down south atmosphere, featuring a relaxed, pub-style restaurant and bar with a large outdoor area. Families love coming to us for a meal and a quiet drink. We have an adventure playground for the kids so you can enjoy your meal while the kids play safely within your sight.

While many of our guests live in our local areas of Byford and Baldivis, people come to us from far and wide. Located ideally between Perth and Mandurah, many of our guests see our venue as a perfect meeting spot right in the middle between north and south.

KRB is your favourite down south pub right here in your own backyard.
