The story of King Road Brewing Co

Built by our family for you

KRB family

Family owned and operated

At King Road Brewing Co, it’s all about family.

It was family that gave birth to the idea of KRB. And it’s our family who offers great food, cider and beer to your family. The KRB story started in 2008, when Bev and Dave McKee experimented with cider recipes using a cheap home-style setup on the family farm. We have fond memories recalling early batches of the brew, most of which were barely drinkable – of course, we drank them, anyway!

Over time, our experience grew, our recipes evolved, and our cider got better. People began to visit our farm on warm, sunny afternoons to say hello and share our family’s delightful brew. It was during one of those afternoons that the idea for KRB was born.

Since then, we have grown to a dedicated venue with a stand-alone brewery where we handcraft our cider and beer creations. We also have a fully equipped bar and restaurant with a revolving summer/winter menu featuring classic pub meals and weekend specials. Our guests love us for our great venue, child friendly facilities and tasty, value for money food and beverages.

We open our doors and invite you and your family to enjoy a drink and a meal with us. From our family to yours.

A focus on local community

KRB loves the Western Australian community. While many of our guests live in our local areas of Byford and Baldivis, people come to us from far and wide. Located ideally between Perth and Mandurah, many of our guests see our venue as a perfect meeting spot right in the middle between north and south.

Our venue captures the down south atmosphere, featuring a large restaurant and outdoor area. Families love coming to us for a meal and a quiet drink in a relaxed, community atmosphere. We have an adventure playground for the kids so you can enjoy your meal while the kids play safely within your sight. KRB is your favourite down south pub right here in your own backyard.

We also sponsor local sporting teams, with the Fremantle Phantoms Football Club and the Cannons Softball Team in Byford benefitting from our support – Go the Phantoms and the Cannons!!

Being community focussed, we love to hear from our customers. Drop us a line to let us know how you feel about your experience at KRB.

Investing in local produce

KRB believes in supporting the community that supports us. Wherever possible, we source our produce locally, which guarantees absolute quality and freshness, while helping sustain our community. Our briskets come from Harvey Beef and our steaks are sourced through M&M Princi Butchers from a family farm in Bindoon.

Our vegetables and salads come from Supafresh in Baldivis, our cheese from Borello Cheese in Byford, and our honey from Honey For Life in Fremantle.

We use the finest Granny Smith apples in our cider, sourced from suppliers in the Perth hills or all the way down south in Manjimup to ensure an entirely local and quality product. The hops we use in some of our beers are special, rare crops from the Donnybrook area that must be harvested and processed within 24 hours to ensure absolute freshness in the final product.

Every one of our vendors is carefully selected to ensure the freshest and best food and beverages for our guests. Everything comes directly from our local producers and suppliers to you.

Rustic, recycled materials create an authentic, vintage feel to our venue. It doesn’t hurt that recycled materials are also better for the environment. Re-use and recycle is a key philosophy in the KRB ethos.

Almost every part of our venue is constructed using recycled materials. That is, except our brewing and kitchen facilities. We use state of the art equipment to ensure the most cutting-edge technology in the creation of our food, ciders and beers.

Our old Cattle Shed, once the only structure on the property, was repurposed to become what is now our main bar area. The Hay Shed, which was originally built to store hay and machinery, now features live bands most Friday nights over the summer season.

We are always planning our next big move – keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook pages to see what we’re up to. Our venue is also available for your wedding, party or corporate function. We can cater for up to 500 people. Why not try us out for your next gathering?

An evolving vision to grow

The aim of KRB is to provide our guests with the highest quality food, beers and ciders on the market. We are always learning and applying new techniques to our culinary and beverage creations.

At KRB we never stop. We take no shortcuts and we never compromise on quality. We are passionate about following tried and tested processes to ensure a consistent product for our guests. Greater care requires more time and effort, but the results speak for themselves. Every time.

We believe in continuous improvement and love to hear your feedback. We listen to your ideas and are never afraid to have a good Aussie crack at trying something different. We love to experiment with new recipes to create innovative, delicious food and fine handcrafted beverages for our guests. Keep an eye on the website, or our Instagram and Facebook pages to find out about our latest creations

Welcome to King Road Brewing Co

Built for you by our family

At KRB, we love natural. Everything from our food, to our ciders and beers, to our venue has a handcrafted, natural feel to it. Our family built the entire KRB venue with each of our own two hands.

When we started, we had a vacant block with a shed – the Cattle Shed. In those early days, Bev and Dave converted the shed to live in while they were building their home. Now it’s the main bar where we entertain our guests.

Our stand-alone brewery features state-of-the-art equipment where we handcraft our cider and beer creations. Our fully equipped restaurant and bar has a revolving summer/winter menu featuring classic pub meals and weekend specials.

Our Hay Shed features live music most Friday nights over the summer season, with performances by local bands and cover acts. We haven’t forgotten about the little guys, either, with our adventure playground keeping the kids entertained while you enjoy your meal. We also feature regular appearances by children’s entertainers, including The Avengers and The Transformers.

There truly is something for everyone at KRB. We are proud of what we have built and thrive on sharing our experience with you and your family. Everyone who comes to us becomes a part of our family.
